In the fall of 2010 Brother introduced the HL-4150/4570 family of color printers worldwide. OEM rated print speeds ranged from 25 pages per minute (ppm) in the HL-4150 to 30 ppm in the multifunction MFC-9970 model. Duty cycles of were 40,000 pages per month and 60,000, respectively.

The supplies set for all machines in the series is made up of 1,500 page standard yield color, 2,500 page standard yield black, 3,500 page high yield color and 6,000 page high yield black cartridges. Cartridges with the same page yields are physically the same, but with different OEM SKUs for different geographic markets.

Toner cartridges and drum units are sold separately. Neither the drum units nor toner cartridges are chipped, but the toner units require a flag (or “reset”) gear for correct operation
